What is Oligio and how does it compare to Thermage?

Oligio is a monopolar radiofrequency device developed in Korea. Like Thermage FLX, it heats the dermis evenly to contract collagen and stimulate new collagen, while a cooling tip protects the surface. Both aim for firmer skin and smoother texture, with results building over 1–3 months. Oligio is often chosen for its comfort and flexible shot planning. Most patients have one session, repeated every 6–12 months; results vary.

Understanding Oligio

Firmness through controlled heat

Oligio uses monopolar radiofrequency to heat the dermis and the upper fibrous network beneath it. Heat causes existing collagen to tighten and signals the skin to produce new collagen over the following weeks. Contact cooling protects the epidermis, so it is suitable for many skin tones.

It works well for early sagging skin, crepey texture and fine lines, including the eye area with a dedicated tip. For deeper laxity, our doctors may combine it with focused ultrasound such as Ulthera.

Oligio may suit you if you notice

  • Skin that feels less firm or springy
  • Crepey texture on cheeks, jawline or neck
  • Fine lines around the eyes
  • Mild softening of the jawline
  • Enlarged pores with loss of elasticity

Is it right for you?

Good candidates

  • Adults with early to moderate skin laxity
  • Crepey skin around the eyes, cheeks or neck
  • Patients who prefer a comfortable treatment with little downtime
  • Thinner faces where deeper ultrasound is less suitable
  • Visitors wanting a single-visit firming treatment
Safety first

Possible side effects

Warmth during each pulse and mild redness or swelling afterwards are common and usually settle within hours to a day. Uncommon risks include temporary tenderness, small blisters or burns, and temporary changes in pigmentation. Integrated cooling, conservative energy and experienced technique help reduce these risks.

Not suitable during pregnancy, over active infection, or for people with pacemakers or certain implanted electronic devices. Tell us about any metal implants in the treatment area.

FAQ

Oligio questions, answered

Does Oligio hurt?
Most patients feel short bursts of warmth. Cooling, numbing cream and adjustable energy keep it comfortable for most people.
Is there any downtime?
Usually only mild redness for a few hours. Most patients return to sightseeing or work the same day.
How long do results last?
Firming typically builds over 1–3 months and is commonly maintained with a session every 6–12 months; results vary.
Oligio or Ulthera?
Oligio heats the skin broadly for tightening and texture, while Ulthera targets deeper layers for lift. Our doctors often combine them for laxity at several depths.
Can it be used around the eyes?
Yes, with a dedicated eye tip and careful protection. It can soften crepey eyelid skin and fine lines.
Is it safe for darker skin?
Radiofrequency does not target pigment, and cooling protects the surface, so it is generally suitable for a wide range of skin tones.
