Can loose body skin be tightened without surgery?

Yes, for mild to moderate laxity. Non-surgical body lifting uses focused ultrasound (such as Ulthera) and radiofrequency (such as Thermage FLX, Oligio or Inmode) to heat deeper tissue and stimulate new collagen. Skin becomes gradually firmer over 2–6 months. Most plans involve 1–3 sessions, with little downtime. Significant overhanging skin after major weight loss usually needs surgery, and results vary between individuals.

Understanding body laxity

Why body skin loosens

Body skin relies on collagen and elastin to stay firm. Ageing, pregnancy, weight loss, hormonal change and years of sun exposure all weaken this support, leading to crepey inner arms, a soft lower abdomen, wrinkling above the knees and loose inner thighs.

Energy-based lifting devices deliver heat at precise depths. This contracts existing collagen and starts a healing response that builds new collagen over months. For skin that also lacks volume or thickness, a biostimulator such as Body Sculptra can add structural support.

Signs body lifting may help

  • Loose or crepey skin on the inner upper arms
  • Soft, lax skin on the lower abdomen after pregnancy
  • Wrinkled or sagging skin above the knees
  • Mild looseness on the inner thighs or buttock fold
  • Skin that has lost firmness after moderate weight loss
For contouring with smaller fat pockets, see Body Inmode; for facial laxity, see our sagging skin treatments.
Our approach

Devices we combine

Your doctor chooses and layers these according to skin thickness, laxity and the area treated.

01

Ulthera on the body

Focused ultrasound reaches deep supportive layers for a lifting effect, useful above the knees, on the inner arms and the abdomen. Learn more about Ulthera.

02

Thermage FLX

Monopolar radiofrequency heats a broad layer of dermis evenly to tighten and smooth crepey skin in a single session.

03

Oligio

Radiofrequency tightening with a comfortable cooling system, suited to repeat sessions and thinner skin.

04

Inmode body

Temperature-controlled radiofrequency for firming larger areas such as the abdomen and thighs over a short course.

05

Sculptra for structure

Poly-L-lactic acid injections stimulate collagen gradually where skin is thin and has lost support.

What to expect

Is it right for you?

Good candidates

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity on arms, abdomen, knees or thighs
  • Post-pregnancy skin softness
  • Patients who want firming without surgery or scars
  • Visitors to Seoul who prefer a single-visit plan
Large amounts of excess skin, such as after major weight loss, are generally better treated by a plastic surgeon.
Safety first

Possible side effects

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising or tingling are common and settle within days. Uncommon risks include temporary numbness, raised welts, small burns or, rarely, changes in fat contour. We reduce these with conservative energy settings, doctor-planned treatment depths and careful mapping of each area.

We do not perform body lifting during pregnancy, over open wounds or infection, or over areas with metal implants or electronic devices.

FAQ

Body Lifting questions, answered

Is body lifting painful?
Ultrasound lifting can feel like brief deep pulses of heat, especially over bony areas; radiofrequency usually feels like intense warmth. We offer numbing and pain relief and can adjust energy for comfort.
When will I see results?
Some immediate tightening is possible, but the main change develops over 2–6 months as collagen rebuilds. Results vary with age, skin quality and lifestyle.
Can I fly home right after treatment?
Yes. Body lifting has little or no downtime, so flying the next day is usually fine. Mild tenderness may last a few days.
How is this different from Body Inmode?
Body lifting focuses on tightening loose skin with layered devices, while Body Inmode is a radiofrequency course for firming and smoothing contours. Many plans combine both.
Will it replace a tummy tuck or arm lift?
No. Non-surgical lifting suits mild to moderate laxity. If there is significant excess skin, we will tell you honestly that surgery is likely to give a clearer result.
How often should I repeat it?
Many patients repeat focused ultrasound or Thermage FLX about once a year, and radiofrequency courses as maintenance every 6–12 months.
