Can chin filler improve my side profile without surgery?

Yes. A small amount of firm hyaluronic acid placed on the chin bone can add forward projection or length, which balances the nose and lips in profile and sharpens the jawline transition. Treatment takes about 15–20 minutes, results are visible immediately and typically last 12–18 months. Chin filler suits mild to moderate recession; a significantly receded chin or jaw misalignment may need a surgical or orthodontic opinion.

Understanding the chin

The anchor of your profile

A short or slightly receded chin can make the nose look more prominent, the lips appear to protrude and the jawline seem softer than it is. Because the chin sits at the centre of the lower face, small changes in its length or projection can noticeably improve facial balance.

Chin work is often planned alongside the nose and lips — for example with nasal bridge fillers or subtle lip fillers — so the whole profile looks harmonious rather than one feature standing out.

What chin filler can improve

  • A short or mildly receded chin
  • An unbalanced side profile
  • A soft chin–jaw transition
  • A flat chin, or a mild dimple or crease
  • Chin asymmetry
A dimpled, 'golf-ball' chin from an overactive muscle often responds better to a small dose of botulinum toxin (Xeomin), sometimes combined with filler.
Our approach

Structure placed with precision

We use firm, cohesive fillers such as Juvéderm or Restylane designed to hold shape on bone.

01

Projection

Filler placed deep on the chin bone to bring the chin forward and balance the nose and lips.

02

Lengthening

Adds vertical length to a short lower face for a more oval, refined shape.

03

Jawline blending

Small amounts beside the chin smooth the transition into the jaw and soften pre-jowl hollows.

04

Muscle relaxing

Xeomin relaxes an overactive chin muscle to smooth dimpling and support a cleaner contour.

05

Profile planning

We assess nose, lips and chin together, and may suggest lip or marionette work for overall balance.

What to expect

A balanced, defined profile

Drag the handle to compare. Chin filler aims for subtle projection that suits your face, not a pointed look.

Is it right for you?

Safety first

Risks & how we reduce them

Common, temporary effects are mild swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising. Less common risks include asymmetry, lumps, filler spreading if overfilled, infection and rare vascular complications.

We reduce these with deep placement on bone, conservative volumes, careful knowledge of the vessels around the chin and doctor-only injection. Hyaluronidase is kept on hand so filler can be dissolved if ever needed.

Significant jaw misalignment or bite problems should be assessed by a surgeon or orthodontist; we will tell you honestly if filler is not the right tool.

FAQ

Chin Fillers questions, answered

How long does chin filler last?
Usually 12–18 months, as the chin moves relatively little. Many patients maintain results with a smaller top-up.
Does chin filler hurt?
Most patients feel pressure and brief discomfort. Numbing cream and lidocaine-containing filler keep it comfortable.
Can I fly home the next day?
Yes, generally. Avoid pressing on the chin, heavy exercise and saunas for a couple of days.
Chin filler or chin implant?
Filler is non-surgical, quick and reversible, and suits mild to moderate changes. Implants or bone surgery offer larger, longer-term change but involve surgery and recovery.
Will it look pointed or unnatural?
Not with a conservative, well-planned design. We aim for a shape that suits your face width and profile, and HA filler can be adjusted or dissolved.
Can it help a double chin?
Filler can sharpen the chin–neck angle a little, but it does not remove fat. Skin tightening such as Ulthera may be recommended alongside.
