What is the most effective treatment for under-eye wrinkles?

Under-eye wrinkles usually improve most with a combination tailored to the cause. Skin boosters such as Rejuran improve thin, crepey skin over 2–3 sessions; small doses of botulinum toxin soften crow's-feet movement; and radiofrequency like Thermage FLX Eye tightens lax skin. Filler is used cautiously only where hollowness contributes. Results build over 4–12 weeks and vary with skin thickness and age.

Understanding under-eye wrinkles

Why the skin creases first

The skin under the eyes is several times thinner than elsewhere on the face, has few oil glands and moves thousands of times a day as you blink and smile. As collagen and elastin decline, this skin becomes crepey and fine lines form — often earlier than elsewhere.

Sun exposure, rubbing, dehydration and volume loss in the tear trough make lines look deeper. They often appear alongside dark circles or under-eye bags, which need different care.

Signs you may benefit

  • Fine, crepey lines visible when you look up
  • Concealer settles into creases
  • Lines extend from the outer corner when you smile
  • Skin under the eyes looks thin or dull
  • A hollow or shadowed tear trough
Smiling lines at the outer corner are usually treated as crow's feet; we often address both areas in one visit.
Our approach

Gentle, layered eye-area care

Your doctor chooses the mildest effective option for the delicate under-eye skin.

01

Rejuran skin booster

Polynucleotide injections support repair and thickness of thin, crepey skin — usually 2–3 sessions for gradual smoothing.

02

Skinvive & exosome care

Fine hyaluronic acid microdroplets or exosome therapy improve hydration and surface texture with minimal risk of puffiness.

03

Botulinum toxin (Xeomin)

Very small doses at the outer eye soften dynamic creases from smiling, while keeping natural expression.

04

Thermage FLX Eye

Radiofrequency designed for the eye area tightens and firms lax skin, with gradual results over 2–3 months.

05

Conservative filler

Where tear-trough hollowness deepens lines, a small amount of soft filler may help. See under-eye fillers.

Is it right for you?

Good candidates

  • Fine or crepey lines under the eyes
  • Lines that worsen when smiling
  • Thin skin with mild hollowness
  • Patients who want subtle, low-downtime change
  • Visitors who can return for 2–3 sessions or continue care at home
Significant bags or excess eyelid skin often need a surgical opinion; we will advise honestly.
Safety first

Possible side effects

Small bumps, redness and pinpoint bruising after boosters are common and usually settle within 1–3 days. Uncommon effects include prolonged swelling, lumps or a bluish tint if filler is placed too superficially, and temporary eyelid droop or asymmetry after toxin.

We reduce risk with fine needles or cannulas, very small volumes, conservative toxin dosing and careful anatomical mapping of the eye area.

We postpone treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with eye infection or active eczema around the eyes, or recent eye surgery.

FAQ

Under Eye Wrinkles questions, answered

Is under-eye treatment painful?
Numbing cream makes most treatments comfortable. Boosters feel like small pinpricks; Thermage FLX Eye gives brief heat sensations.
How long until I see results?
Botulinum toxin works within 1–2 weeks. Skin boosters improve texture gradually over 4–12 weeks as collagen and hydration build up.
Will filler make my under-eyes puffy?
Filler is used cautiously here because the area is prone to swelling. Many patients do well with boosters alone; if filler is needed we use a soft product in very small amounts.
Can I fly after treatment?
Yes. Minor bumps or bruises may be visible for a day or two, but most patients fly the next day without problems.
How long do results last?
Botulinum toxin typically lasts 3–4 months, boosters around 6–12 months, and radiofrequency results about a year. Results vary between individuals.
What is the difference between under-eye wrinkles and dark circles?
Wrinkles are textural lines; dark circles come from pigment, visible vessels or shadow. They often coexist, so we may combine care — see our dark circle treatment page.
