What are forehead fillers and are they safe?

Forehead fillers use soft hyaluronic acid spread evenly beneath the forehead to smooth dents, flatness or a sloping profile, creating a gently rounded contour. Results are visible immediately and typically last 12–18 months. The forehead has important blood vessels, so safety depends on deep placement with a blunt cannula, small volumes and an experienced doctor. Moving expression lines are usually treated with botulinum toxin instead.

Understanding forehead shape

Contour versus lines

A flat, sloping or uneven forehead — sometimes with dips at the temples or above the brows — can make the upper face look tired or less balanced in profile. With age, thinning fat and bone remodelling can deepen these hollows further.

It is important to separate contour from movement. Creases that appear when you raise your eyebrows are forehead lines and usually respond to botulinum toxin; filler is for shape and volume, and sometimes for deep static lines that remain at rest.

What forehead filler can improve

  • A flat or sloping forehead profile
  • Dents or uneven areas
  • Hollowing above the brows
  • Deep static lines that remain at rest
  • Transition from forehead to temples
A low or heavy brow may be better supported with brow lift fillers or energy-based lifting than with forehead volume alone.
Our approach

Even, soft and low-risk

We use soft, spreadable fillers such as Restylane or Belotero, placed in a deep plane to keep the surface smooth.

01

Forehead contouring

Filler fanned evenly with a blunt cannula to create a smooth, gently rounded shape.

02

Brow-area support

Small amounts above the brows soften hollowness and support a fresher upper face.

03

Static line softening

Very soft filler for deep etched lines, usually after muscle movement has been relaxed.

04

Toxin for movement

Xeomin relaxes the forehead muscle so dynamic lines soften and filler results stay smoother.

05

Gradual volume

For broader hollowing, Sculptra can rebuild volume gradually over several sessions.

What to expect

A smoother, rounded upper face

Drag the handle to compare. The goal is an even contour that suits your profile, not a prominent forehead.

Risks & how we reduce them

Common, temporary effects are swelling, tenderness and mild bruising; swelling may drift towards the eyelids for a day or two. Less common risks include unevenness, lumps, visible filler edges and infection. The forehead and brow area carries a rare but serious risk of vascular complications, including effects on vision.

We reduce these with a blunt cannula, a deep plane, slow injection of small volumes and doctor-only treatment based on detailed vascular anatomy. Hyaluronidase and an emergency protocol are always ready.

We do not inject during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infection, or after previous permanent fillers in the same area.

FAQ

Forehead Fillers questions, answered

Are forehead fillers safe?
When performed by an experienced doctor with a blunt cannula and small volumes, serious complications are rare. Because the area has important vessels, we take extra precautions and explain the risks in consultation.
Filler or botox for forehead lines?
Lines caused by raising your eyebrows respond to botulinum toxin. Filler is used for contour, hollows and deep static lines. Many patients benefit from both.
How swollen will I be?
Mild swelling is common for 2–4 days and may sit around the eyelids briefly. Results look settled after about 2–3 weeks.
When can I fly home?
Flying the next day is generally fine. We recommend 2–3 days in Seoul so we can review the shape before you leave.
How long do forehead fillers last?
Usually 12–18 months, as the forehead moves less than the lips. A small top-up maintains the shape.
