What is Restylane filler used for?

Restylane is a range of hyaluronic acid fillers by Galderma used to add volume, lift and smooth lines. Different gels are designed for lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, under-eye hollows, nasolabial folds and skin hydration. Results are visible immediately and typically last 6–18 months, depending on the product and area. Because it is hyaluronic acid, Restylane can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.

Understanding Restylane

Gels designed for movement

Restylane fillers are made from non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid. The range includes firmer gels that hold shape for lifting and structure, and more flexible gels that stretch and recover with facial expressions — useful around the mouth and in areas that move a lot.

Restylane is one of several brands we use. It is often chosen for under-eye fillers, lip fillers and marionette fillers, where natural movement matters.

What Restylane can treat

  • Lip volume, shape and definition
  • Under-eye hollows and tear troughs
  • Cheek volume and midface lift
  • Chin projection and jawline
  • Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
We use only genuine, traceable Restylane products and show you the sealed packaging and batch label before treatment.

Safety first

Possible side effects

Common, temporary effects include swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising, which usually settle within a week. Uncommon risks include lumps, asymmetry, a bluish tint if placed too superficially, infection and delayed nodules.

As with all fillers, vascular occlusion is a rare but serious risk. We reduce it with careful anatomical planning, cannulas where suitable, slow injection and conservative volumes, and hyaluronidase is always available.

Let us know about previous fillers, blood thinners, recent illness or dental treatment, and cold sore history before lip treatment.

FAQ

Restylane questions, answered

Restylane or Juvéderm — which should I choose?
Both are reputable hyaluronic acid fillers with different gel technologies. Restylane's flexible gels suit expressive areas; Juvéderm's firmer gels suit deep structure. Your doctor will recommend based on your face, not the brand.
How long does Restylane last?
Typically 6–18 months. Lip and mouth-area gels tend to last 6–12 months; deeper cheek products can last longer.
Does it hurt?
Most patients feel pressure and mild stinging. We apply numbing cream and use lidocaine-containing gels where available.
Can I fly home after Restylane?
Usually yes, within 24–48 hours. Treating a few days before departure lets us review any swelling or asymmetry.
Is Restylane reversible?
Yes. Hyaluronidase can dissolve Restylane if the result is not as planned or if a complication occurs.
