How long does Juvéderm filler last?

Juvéderm results usually last between 9 and 24 months, depending on the product and where it is placed. Thinner gels such as Volbella in the lips tend to last around 9–12 months, while firmer Voluma or Volux used deep in the cheeks or jawline can last up to around 18–24 months. Metabolism, movement and lifestyle also affect longevity. Because Juvéderm is hyaluronic acid, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.

Understanding Juvéderm

One brand, many gels

Juvéderm is a range of cross-linked hyaluronic acid fillers made by Allergan. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in skin and binds water to give volume and hydration. Each Juvéderm product uses a different gel technology and firmness, so the right choice depends on the area: soft, flexible gels for lips and fine lines, and firmer, lifting gels for cheeks, chin and jawline.

Because of this range, Juvéderm is used across many of our treatments, including lip fillers, cheek fillers and chin fillers. Our doctors may also compare it with Restylane or Belotero for your particular goals.

What Juvéderm can treat

  • Thin or uneven lips and lip lines
  • Flat or hollow mid-cheeks
  • Short or recessed chin and soft jawline
  • Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
  • Fine lines and skin hydration
We use only genuine, traceable Juvéderm products and are happy to show you the sealed box and batch label before treatment.
The Juvéderm range

Choosing the right gel

Your doctor selects the product for each area; many plans combine two gels for structure and softness.

01

Voluma

A firm, lifting gel placed deep on bone to restore cheek and temple volume and support sagging midface.

02

Volux

The firmest of the range, designed for chin projection and jawline definition with a sculpted, structured result.

03

Volift

Medium firmness for nasolabial folds, marionette lines and moderate volume where flexibility matters.

04

Volbella

A soft, fine gel for subtle lip enhancement, lip lines and delicate areas, with a natural feel.

05

Skinvive

Juvéderm's microdroplet skin booster (known as Volite in some countries) improves hydration, glow and fine texture rather than adding volume. See Skinvive.

Safety first

Possible side effects

Swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising at injection sites are common and usually settle within a week. Uncommon risks include lumps, asymmetry, infection and delayed inflammatory nodules, which can appear weeks or months later.

A rare but serious risk with any filler is vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel. Our doctors reduce risk through anatomical planning, cannulas where suitable, slow low-pressure injection and conservative volumes, and we keep hyaluronidase on hand.

Tell us about previous fillers or permanent implants, blood thinners, recent dental work or illness, and any cold sore history before lip treatment.

FAQ

Juvederm questions, answered

Is Juvéderm better than Restylane?
Neither is universally superior. Both are well-studied hyaluronic acid fillers with different gel technologies. Your doctor chooses based on the area, the lift or softness needed and how your tissue responds.
Does Juvéderm hurt?
Most Juvéderm products contain lidocaine and we apply numbing cream, so most patients feel pressure and mild stinging rather than significant pain.
When will I see results?
Immediately. Swelling may exaggerate volume for a few days, and the final settled look is usually seen at about two weeks.
Can I fly after Juvéderm?
Yes, usually within 24–48 hours. Swelling can increase slightly in flight. We recommend treating a few days before departure so we can review you if needed.
Is Juvéderm reversible?
Yes. Hyaluronidase can dissolve Juvéderm partially or fully if you are unhappy with the result or in the event of a complication.
How do I know the product is genuine?
We show you the sealed box, syringe label and batch sticker before treatment, and record the batch in your medical notes.
