How long do lip fillers last?

Hyaluronic acid lip fillers typically last 6–12 months. Lips move constantly, so filler breaks down faster here than in the cheeks or chin, and longevity depends on the product, the amount used and your metabolism. Swelling peaks in the first 1–2 days and the final shape is clear after about 2 weeks. Because HA filler is dissolvable, results can be adjusted or reversed if needed.

Understanding lip filler

Shape and hydration, not just size

Lips naturally lose volume, definition and moisture with age, and many people are born with a thin upper lip, an uneven shape or a flat Cupid's bow. Soft hyaluronic acid filler attracts water and restores structure where it is placed, so small amounts can refine shape without an obviously 'done' look.

Lip filler looks most natural when it respects facial proportion. Sometimes a flat profile is better improved with chin filler, and downturned corners respond to mouth corner lift fillers rather than more lip volume.

What lip filler can improve

  • Thin or flat lips, especially the upper lip
  • Uneven or asymmetric lips
  • An undefined border or Cupid's bow
  • Dry, lined lips that lack hydration
  • Volume loss that comes with age
Fine vertical 'smoker's lines' above the lip often need a separate approach for fine lines, such as skin boosters, alongside a light lip treatment.
Our approach

Tailored lip techniques

We choose soft, flexible fillers such as Juvéderm or Restylane and keep the first session conservative — you can always add more later.

01

Natural volume

A small amount placed through the body of the lip for gentle fullness that moves naturally when you speak and smile.

02

Border definition

Fine placement along the vermilion border and Cupid's bow to sharpen shape without a hard outline.

03

Balancing asymmetry

Filler is placed unevenly on purpose to even out one fuller or flatter side.

04

Hydration lips

A very soft, low-volume technique for dryness and fine texture, for those who want no visible size change.

05

Corner & profile balance

Lip work is often combined with corner lifting or chin support so the mouth area looks harmonious in profile.

What to expect

Safety first

Risks & how we reduce them

Lips are vascular, so swelling, tenderness and bruising for a few days are common. Less common risks include small lumps, asymmetry while swelling settles, a cold-sore flare, filler migration above the lip line after overfilling, and rare vascular complications that need urgent treatment.

We reduce these with careful anatomy-based placement, slow injection of small volumes, cannula use where appropriate and doctor-only treatment. Hyaluronidase is kept on hand so filler can be dissolved if ever needed.

We do not inject during pregnancy or breastfeeding, near active infection or cold sores, or soon after dental work.

FAQ

Lip Fillers questions, answered

Do lip fillers hurt?
Lips are sensitive, but numbing cream and lidocaine-containing filler make it very manageable. Most patients describe brief stinging and pressure rather than strong pain.
How swollen will I be?
Expect the most swelling in the first 24–48 hours, often more on waking. It usually settles within 3–5 days; the final shape is visible after about 2 weeks.
Can I fly home after lip filler?
Yes, flying the next day is generally fine. If possible, plan 2–3 days in Seoul so we can check you once swelling has eased.
Will my lips look overdone?
We start with a small amount and focus on shape and balance rather than size. Filler can be added later, or dissolved with hyaluronidase if you are unhappy.
What happens when the filler wears off?
Hyaluronic acid is gradually absorbed by the body and your lips return towards their previous shape. Lips are not stretched by a sensible, conservative treatment.
How do I prepare?
Avoid alcohol and, if your own doctor agrees, blood-thinning supplements for a few days beforehand. Arrive without lipstick, and tell us about any cold-sore history.
