Dark Circle Treatment in Gangnam, Seoul

Dark circles have more than one cause, so our women doctors first work out whether yours come from pigment, thin skin, visible vessels or a hollow — then match the treatment to the cause.

What is the most effective treatment for dark circles under the eyes?

It depends on the cause. Pigmented dark circles respond to gentle laser toning and brightening care; thin, bluish skin improves with skin boosters such as Rejuran; and shadow-type circles caused by a tear-trough hollow may be softened with carefully placed under-eye filler. Many people have a mix. Results are gradual for pigment and skin quality, and immediate but temporary for filler, so a doctor's assessment comes first.

Understanding dark circles

Why the under-eye looks darker

The skin under the eyes is among the thinnest on the body. Brown circles usually reflect extra pigment, often hereditary or worsened by rubbing and sun. Blue or purple circles come from blood vessels showing through thin skin. Grey shadows are often a hollow — the tear trough — casting shade as facial volume changes.

Dark circles often appear alongside under-eye bags, puffy eyes or fine lines, and a combined plan usually gives the most natural result.

Which type do you have?

  • Brown tint that stays the same when you stretch the skin — likely pigment
  • Bluish or purple tone that looks worse when tired — likely vascular
  • Shadow that changes with overhead lighting — likely a hollow
  • Darkening after eye rubbing, allergies or eczema
  • A mix of the above, which is very common
Our doctors examine the under-eye in different lighting and skin positions to identify the main cause before suggesting laser, boosters or under-eye fillers.
Our approach

Treatment matched to the cause

Most plans combine two or three of these, chosen for your type of dark circle and your timeline in Seoul.

01

Gentle laser toning

Low-energy pico or Q-switched toning gradually lightens pigment-type circles with eye-safe technique.

02

Rejuran skin booster

Polynucleotide injections support thin under-eye skin, helping it look thicker and less translucent over several sessions.

03

Skinvive hydration

Fine hyaluronic micro-droplets improve hydration and smoothness — see Skinvive.

04

Under-eye filler

A small, carefully placed amount of soft hyaluronic acid filler can soften a tear-trough hollow that casts a shadow.

05

Exosome care

Exosome-based treatments may be added to support skin recovery and overall skin quality.

06

Home & lifestyle care

Sunscreen around the eyes, allergy control and avoiding rubbing help protect the result.

Is it right for you?

Good candidates

  • Hereditary brown pigment under the eyes
  • Thin, crepey skin where vessels show through
  • A visible tear-trough hollow that creates a shadow
  • People who want a refreshed look without surgery
  • Visitors who can attend at least 1–2 sessions and follow up later
Large fat bags or significant skin excess may need a surgical opinion; we will tell you honestly if a non-surgical approach is unlikely to help.
Safety first

Possible side effects

Laser toning may cause mild redness for a few hours. Injections can cause small bruises, swelling or tenderness that usually settle within a few days. Uncommon risks include temporary darkening, lumps or a bluish tint if filler sits too superficially, and, rarely, vascular complications with filler.

We reduce these risks with conservative energy, precise injection technique, cannula use where appropriate and careful product choice.

We avoid treatment during pregnancy, active eye infection or with certain bleeding disorders, and review blood-thinning medication before injections.

FAQ

Dark Circles questions, answered

Can dark circles be removed completely?
Most dark circles can be visibly improved, but genetics, skin thickness and anatomy mean some shadow often remains. Our aim is a brighter, more rested look; results vary between individuals.
How long do results last?
Pigment improvements can last well with sun protection and occasional maintenance. Skin-booster results usually last several months, and under-eye filler typically lasts around 9–12 months.
Will I bruise? Can I fly soon after?
Bruising is possible after injections and can usually be covered with concealer. Flying is fine the next day; we suggest leaving a few days in Seoul for a check if you have filler.
Does it hurt?
Laser toning feels like a light snap. For injections we apply numbing cream, and most patients describe mild pressure rather than pain.
Is filler or a skin booster better?
Filler addresses a hollow; boosters improve thin, translucent skin. Many people benefit from both. Read more about under-eye fillers to compare.
Is it safe for darker skin?
Yes. Pigment-type dark circles are common in darker skin and we use conservative laser settings to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
