Laser toning
Low-energy Q-switched or pico toning gradually reduces excess pigment over a wide area without heat injury.
When the face or neck has gradually become darker than it used to be, our women doctors look for the cause first — sun, friction, hormones or irritation — then restore a brighter tone with gentle, low-inflammation care.

Gradual skin darkening is most often caused by cumulative sun and visible-light exposure, hormonal changes, friction, or inflammation from irritation or acne. Less commonly it reflects a medical issue or medication. Once the cause is identified, it can usually be improved. At Nest Clinic we use low-energy laser toning, brightening peels or infusions and barrier care every 1–2 weeks, plus strict sun protection. Most patients see a gradually lighter, more even tone over 4–6 sessions; results vary.
Skin darkening (diffuse hyperpigmentation) develops when pigment cells become more active over a wide area. Sun and visible light, heat, hormones, rubbing, harsh skincare and recurring inflammation all play a role. It can affect the whole face, around the mouth or eyes, the neck or areas of friction.
It often overlaps with melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and a generally uneven skin tone, so a careful diagnosis comes before any laser.
Diffuse darkening tends to respond well to repeated low-inflammation care. Your plan is built from these steps.

Combining two wavelengths can address pigment at different depths — see Dual Toning.
Mild, pigment-safe peels help discoloured surface cells turn over more evenly.
Topical or oral tranexamic acid may be prescribed to reduce signals that drive pigment production.
Barrier care and vitamin C boosters calm the skin and support a clearer tone.
Tinted broad-spectrum sunscreen and gentle skincare habits protect the improvement.
Drag the handle to compare. Brightening builds gradually over several sessions as excess pigment is reduced.

Toning and gentle peels are generally well tolerated. Mild redness, warmth or dryness are common for a short time. Uncommon risks include temporary darkening, uneven lightening if over-treated and irritation from topicals. We reduce these with conservative settings, careful intervals and barrier support.
